Positioning
of survey vessel was through DGPS utilizing antennae, GBX and Winfrog navigational software. A SeaSPY Overhauser Magnetometer and associated SeaLink Magnetometer software was used to conduct the
survey. The vessel of opportunity
used to conduct the magnetometer survey was the M/V Meg & Kel a 39’ Cape
Islander. Differential offsets from the CRP were 4m to bow, 8m to stern,
1.2m starboard and 2m port.
A magnetometer survey was undertaken between the 3rd
and 6th of May 2005, within the Aspy
Bay treasure trove license held by Deep Star Explorations. The survey
comprised of approximately 96 lines with additional transit and calibration
lines. The survey identified 102 magnetic anomalies with intensities
varying from 2 to 70 nT. In addition 49 broader
anomalies were identified which are probably associated with seafloor geological
features. The identified magnetic anomalies a designated by line number and
corresponding hit order along line. The magnetic anomaly positions were
turned over to Deep Star Exploration for a diving survey to be undertaken
during August and September of 2005.
