Seaforth Engineering Group
Inc. completed several cable route landing surveys along the south coast of
Newfoundland, Canada. The work is in fulfillment of an earlier
contract awarded to Seaforth by International Telecom.
The survey was several
weeks in duration and involved the mobilization and execution of an
integrated survey operation in harsh ice infested waters.

Seaforth subcontracted the
services of Edwards and Associates, St.
Lawrence, Newfoundland. The team mobilized a 22 foot survey
launch with differential GPS, Klein 3000 sidescan sonar, and a Singlebeam echosounder. Shorelining for landing sites were conducted using GPS
RTK technology.
The landings proved quite
challenging for the Seaforh team as weather in Newfoundland can be
rather chilly and wet at this time of year.
In addition, sea states are also challenging and extra emphasis was
placed on safety and equipment care and operation. In the end, all the required work was completed
with marginal down time attributed to weather.
Survey work was also conducted on several Nova Scotia
landing sites including the Canso Causeway.
